Famed fashion and lifestyle boutique Colette is to close its Parisian doors this December after 20 years. The Rue Saint Honoré boutique, which was founded in 1997 by the now-retiring Colette Roussaux, is run by her daughter Sarah Andelman who is creative director. Andelman confirmed the store’s impending demise to the press Wednesday morning. She said in an official statement: “As all good things must come to an end, after 20 wonderful years, Colette should be closing its doors on December 20.” the store said in a statement, explaining that Roussaux was also ready to retire. “Until our last day, nothing will change. Colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website colette.fr,” it added. It is unknown if the retailer will continue as an online entity, as e-sales account for around 20% of its total revenue. Meanwhile, the store is in talks with Saint Laurent to take over the three-storey, 8,000 sq ft location, it said. “We would be proud to have a brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees,” a statement added.
